मार्कण्डेय उवाच पितामहस्ततस्तेषां संनिधौ शक्रमब्रवीत्‌ | सर्वेर्देवगणै: सार्थ सम्भव त्वं महीतले,मार्कण्डेयजी कहते हैं--राजन्‌! तदनन्तर ब्रह्माजीने उन देवताओंके समीप ही इन्द्रसे कहा--“तुम समस्त देवताओंके साथ भूतलपर जन्म ग्रहण करो

Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca: Pitāmahas tataḥ teṣāṁ saṁnidhau Śakram abravīt | Sarvair devagaṇaiḥ sārthaṁ sambhava tvaṁ mahītale |

മാർക്കണ്ഡേയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവേ! തുടർന്ന് പിതാമഹനായ ബ്രഹ്മാവ് ആ ദേവന്മാരുടെ സന്നിധിയിലേ തന്നെ ശക്രനോട് (ഇന്ദ്രനോട്) പറഞ്ഞു—“സകല ദേവഗണങ്ങളോടും കൂടി നീ ഭൂമിയിൽ ജന്മം എടുക്കുക.”
