धृतराष्ट्रस्य क्रतु-प्रवर्तनम् तथा पाण्डवानां निमन्त्रण-प्रतिवचनम्

शासतैनानधर्मज्ञान्‌ मम विप्रियकारिण: । यदि प्रक्रीडते सर्वैर्देवे: सह शतक्रतुः,“अरे! यदि समस्त देवताओंके साथ इन्द्र भी यहाँ आकर क्रीडा करते हों, तो वे भी मेरा अप्रिय करनेवाले हैं। तुमलोग इन सब पापात्माओंको दण्ड दो'

śāsatainān adharmajñān mama vipriyakāriṇaḥ | yadi prakrīḍate sarvair devaiḥ saha śatakratuḥ ||

‘ധർമ്മം അറിയാത്തതും എന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്തിന് വിരോധമായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതുമായ ഇവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കുവിൻ. സർവ്വദേവന്മാരോടൊപ്പം ശതക്രതു ഇന്ദ്രൻ തന്നേ ഇവിടെ വന്ന് ക്രീഡിച്ചാലും, അവനും എനിക്കു അപ്രീതി വരുത്തുന്നവനായി തന്നെ എണ്ണപ്പെടും. അതുകൊണ്ട് ഈ പാപാത്മാക്കളെ എല്ലാവരെയും ദണ്ഡിക്കുവിൻ.’
