चित्रसेनगन्धर्वैः कौरवसंनिपातः
Citrasena and the Kaurava engagement
यथैव सुसमिद्धस्य पावकस्यात्ममण्डलम् | मार्कण्डेयजी कहते हैं--युधिष्ठिर! तदनन्तर समस्त देवताओंसहित इन्द्रने कुमारका देवसेनापतिके पदपर अभिषेक कर दिया। उस सयम वहाँ महर्षियोंद्वारा पूजित होकर स्कन्दकी बड़ी शोभा हुई। उनके ऊपर तना हुआ वह सुवर्णमय छत्र उद्धासित हो रहा था, मानो प्रज्वलित अग्निका अपना ही मण्डल प्रकाशित होता हो || २३-२४ $ ।। विश्वकर्मकृता चास्य दिव्या माला हिरण्मयी,नरश्रेष्ठ परंतप युधिष्ठिर! साक्षात् त्रिपुरनाशक यशस्वी भगवान् शिव तथा देवी पार्वतीने वहाँ पधारकर स्कनन््दके गलेमें विश्वकर्माकी बनायी हुई सोनेकी दिव्य माला पहनायी

മാർക്കണ്ഡേയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“യുധിഷ്ഠിരാ! നന്നായി ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന അഗ്നിയുടെ സ്വന്തം പ്രകാശമണ്ഡലം സ്വയം പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ, അഭിഷേകാനന്തരം ദേവസേനാപതിയായ സ്കന്ദന്റെ ശോഭ അവിടെ സ്വയംപ്രകാശമായി അത്യന്തം ദീപ്തിയായി ഉയർന്നു.”

Legitimate authority and excellence are recognized by their inherent radiance (tejas) and by rightful consecration: like a well-kindled fire that naturally shines, true merit becomes evident without contrivance, especially when aligned with dharma and affirmed by the wise and the divine.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes Skanda’s elevation: Indra, together with all the gods, consecrates Kumāra as commander of the divine army. Honored by sages, Skanda appears resplendent beneath a golden parasol, compared to the glowing circle of blazing fire; additionally, Śiva and Pārvatī arrive and adorn him with a divine golden garland made by Viśvakarman.
