Shloka 12

Skanda–Mātṛgaṇa-janma: Kumārakāḥ, Kanyāgaṇāḥ, and the Vīrāṣṭaka (स्कन्द-मातृगण-सम्भवः)

कर्मदोषश्न वै विद्वन्नात्मजातिकृतेन ते । कज्चित्‌ कालमुष्यतां वै ततो5सि भविता द्विज:,विद्वन! आपको जो यह कर्मदोष (दूषित कर्म) प्राप्त हुआ है, वह आपके पूर्वजन्मके कर्मका फल है। इस जन्मके नहीं। अत: कुछ कालतक और इसी रूपमें रहें। फिर आप ब्राह्मण हो जायँगे

karmadoṣo na vai vidvann ātmajātikṛtena te | kañcit kālam uṣyatāṃ vai tato ’si bhavitā dvijaḥ ||

ഹേ വിദ്വാനേ! നിനക്കു ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ കർമ്മദോഷം ഈ ജന്മത്തിലെ കർമ്മഫലം അല്ല; അത് മുൻജന്മത്തിലെ കർമ്മഫലമാണ്. അതിനാൽ കുറച്ചുകാലം കൂടി ഇതേ അവസ്ഥയിൽ തന്നെ ഇരിക്ക; പിന്നെ നീ വീണ്ടും ദ്വിജൻ (ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ) ആകും.
