विषमां च दशां प्राप्तो देवान्‌ गहति वै भृशम्‌ । आत्मन: कर्मदोषाणि न विजानात्यपण्डित:,मूर्ख मानव संकटकी दशामें पड़नेपर देवताओंको बहुत कोसता है, उनकी भरपेट निन्दा करता है; किंतु वह यह नहीं समझता कि यह अपने ही कर्मोका दोषावह परिणाम है

viṣamāṃ ca daśāṃ prāpto devān gahati vai bhṛśam | ātmanaḥ karmadoṣāṇi na vijānāty apaṇḍitaḥ ||

മൂഢൻ കഠിനവും അസമവുമായ അവസ്ഥയിൽ വീഴുമ്പോൾ ദേവന്മാരെ അത്യന്തം കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തി നിന്ദിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ ഈ ദുഃഖം തന്റെ തന്നെ കര്‍മ്മദോഷങ്ങളുടെ ഫലമാണെന്ന് അവൻ തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നില്ല.
