तामहं माययैवाशु प्रतिगृह्य व्यनाशयम्‌ । तस्यां हतायां मायायां गिरिशृज्जैरयोधयत्‌,शाल्वकी उस मायाको मैंने मायाद्वारा ही नियन्त्रित करके नष्ट कर दिया। उस मायाका नाश होनेपर वह पर्वतके शिखरोंद्वारा युद्ध करने लगा

tām ahaṃ māyayāivāśu pratigṛhya vyanāśayam | tasyāṃ hatāyāṃ māyāyāṃ giriśṛṅgair ayodhayat ||

വാസുദേവൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ആ മായയെ ഞാൻ എന്റെ തന്നെ ദിവ്യശക്തിയാൽ ഉടൻ തടഞ്ഞ് നശിപ്പിച്ചു. ആ മായ വധിക്കപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ അവൻ പർവ്വതശിഖരങ്ങൾ എറിഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് യുദ്ധം തുടർന്നു.
