Brāhmaṇa-māhātmya: Tārkṣya’s instruction on tapas, satya, and svadharma
Chapter 182
Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca: aho buddhimatāṃ śreṣṭha śubhā buddhir iyaṃ tava | viditaṃ veditavyaṃ te kasmāt samanupṛcchasi ||
True wisdom includes recognizing when knowledge is already present: Yudhiṣṭhira praises the interlocutor’s discernment and implies that further questioning may be unnecessary when the essential truth has been understood.
In a dialogic setting in the Vana Parva, Yudhiṣṭhira responds to a questioner by commending their intelligence and asking why they seek answers from him despite already knowing what is worth knowing.
