Bhīmasena’s Capture by the Serpent and Nahūṣa’s Self-Disclosure

Vaiśampāyana uvāca—naraśreṣṭha! evaṃ divyāstrapradarśanena Arjunam nivārya samagrā devatāḥ sarve ca anye prāṇinaḥ yathāgatāḥ tathā pratyajagmuḥ. teṣu sarveṣu, kauravya, pratīyāteṣu, pāṇḍavāḥ tasminn eva vane hṛṣṭāḥ ūṣuḥ saha Kṛṣṇayā. kurunandana! teṣāṃ gateṣu sarveṣu pāṇḍavāḥ Draupadyā saha mahāharṣeṇa tasminn eva vane nivāsam cakruḥ.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights ethical restraint: even when one possesses extraordinary power (celestial weapons), it should not be displayed impulsively. Self-control and propriety take precedence over spectacle, and harmony is restored when the divine visitors depart and the Pāṇḍavas return to disciplined life in exile.

After Arjuna is checked from demonstrating divine weapons, the gods and other beings who had assembled depart. Once they leave, the Pāṇḍavas, together with Draupadī (called Kṛṣṇā), remain in the same forest and continue their residence there in a mood of relief and happiness.
