इन्द्रस्य पाण्डवैः समागमः
Indra’s Meeting with the Pāṇḍavas
'धनेश्वर! तुम्हारे इस दुष्टात्मा सखाने मेरी अवहेलना करके तुम्हारे देखते-देखते जो मेरा इस प्रकार तिरस्कार किया है, उसके फलस्वरूप इन समस्त सैनिकोंके साथ यह एक मनुष्यके हाथसे मारा जायगा। तुम्हारी बुद्धि खोटी हो गयी है, अतः इन सब सैनिकोंके मारे जानेपर उनके लिये दुःख उठानेके पश्चात् तुम फिर उसी मनुष्यका दर्शन करके मेरे शाप एवं पापसे छुटकारा पा सकोगे ।। सैन्यानां तु तवैतेषां पुत्रपौत्रबलान्वितम् । न शापं प्राप्यते घोरं तत् तवाज्ञां करिष्यति,“इन सैनिकोंमेंसे जो तुम्हारी आज्ञाका पालन करेगा, वह पुत्र, पौत्र तथा सेनापर लागू होनेवाले इस भयंकर शापके प्रभावसे अलग रहेगा”
dhaneśvara! tvayā dṛṣṭvā dṛṣṭvā mamaivaṃ tiraskṛtaṃ duṣṭātmanā sakhyā avajñāya; tasya phalena eṣa ekaḥ puruṣaḥ sarvaiḥ sainyaiḥ saha ekasya puruṣasya hastena hataḥ bhaviṣyati. tava buddhiḥ khoṭī jātā; ataḥ sarveṣāṃ sainyānāṃ nihateṣu teṣāṃ kṛte duḥkham anubhūya punar eva taṃ puruṣaṃ darśayitvā mama śāpāt pāpāc ca vimokṣyase. sainyānāṃ tu tava eteṣāṃ putra-pautra-balānvitānāṃ yaḥ tava ājñāṃ kariṣyati sa ghoraṃ śāpaṃ na prāpsyati.
ധനേശ്വരാ! നിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടാത്മ സഖാവ് എന്നെ അവഗണിച്ച്, നീ നോക്കി നിൽക്കേ തന്നെ, എന്നെ ഇങ്ങനെ അപമാനിച്ചു. അതിന്റെ ഫലമായി, ഈ മുഴുവൻ സൈന്യത്തോടുകൂടി അവൻ ഒരേയൊരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ കൈയ്യാൽ വധിക്കപ്പെടും. നിന്റെ ബുദ്ധി വികൃതമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിനാൽ ഈ സൈന്യങ്ങൾ നശിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവർക്കായി ദുഃഖം സഹിച്ച് നീ വീണ്ടും ആ മനുഷ്യനെ തന്നെയൊന്നു ദർശിക്കുകയും, എന്റെ ശാപത്തിലും പാപത്തിലും നിന്ന് മോചിതനാകുകയും ചെയ്യും. എന്നാൽ ഈ സൈന്യത്തിൽ—പുത്രപൗത്രബലങ്ങളാൽ സമൃദ്ധരായവരിൽ—നിന്റെ ആജ്ഞ പാലിക്കുന്നവൻ ഈ ഭീകര ശാപത്തിന്റെ പ്രഭാവത്തിൽ നിന്ന് വേറിട്ടിരിക്കും.
