Sacred places gain authority through continuous, disciplined reverence: when gods and realized sages have frequented them, later generations uphold dharma by honoring them in proper order and with due respect.
The narrator (Vaiśampāyana) describes the sanctity of the places being visited—sites previously trodden by gods and great sages and subsequently venerated by learned twice-born—framing the journey as a dharmic pilgrimage through established holy ground.
