Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 64: Arjuna’s Instruction to Sanjaya
Message to the Kuru Assembly
yaḥ punaḥ pratimānena trīl lokān atiricyate | taṁ kṛṣṇaṁ puṇḍarīkākṣaṁ ko nu yuddhayet buddhimān |
Wisdom recognizes rightful power and moral reality: to oppose Krishna—portrayed as surpassing the three worlds—is to choose adharma and self-destruction. The verse urges restraint, discernment, and alignment with dharma rather than prideful confrontation.
In Udyoga Parva, as war becomes imminent, Vidura offers hard counsel to the Kuru side. Here he underscores the futility and wrongness of fighting Krishna, warning that any intelligent person would avoid such a conflict and instead seek peace and righteous settlement.
