pitāmaha vijānīṣe pārtheṣu vijayaṃ katham | nāhaṃ bhavati na droṇe na kṛpe na ca bāhvalike ||
പിതാമഹാ! പാർഥന്മാർക്കു വിജയം എങ്ങനെ വരാമെന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നു. എന്നാൽ എന്റെ വിജയം ദ്രോണനാൽ അല്ല, കൃപനാൽ അല്ല, ബാഹ്വലീകനാൽ പോലും അല്ല.
दुर्योधन उवाच
Powerful allies and renowned teachers do not guarantee success when one’s cause is ethically compromised and confidence is shaken; inner conviction and alignment with dharma are implied as decisive factors beyond mere military strength.
Duryodhana addresses Bhīṣma, admitting fear that victory will go to the Pāṇḍavas and expressing distrust that even celebrated warriors on his side—Droṇa, Kṛpa, and Bāhvalīka—can secure his triumph.
