यदा ज्येष्ठ: पाण्डव: संशितात्मा क्रोधं यत्तं वर्षपूगान् सुघोरम् अवस्रष्टा कुरुष्द्वृत्तचेता- स्तदा युद्ध धार्तराष्ट्रोडन्वतप्स्यत्
sañjaya uvāca | yadā jyeṣṭhaḥ pāṇḍavaḥ saṃśitātmā krodhaṃ yat taṃ varṣa-pūgān sughoram avasraṣṭā kuruṣu vṛtta-cetās tadā yuddhaṃ dhārtarāṣṭro ’nvatapsyāt |
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ശുദ്ധവും നിയന്ത്രിതവുമായ മനസ്സുള്ള ജ്യേഷ്ഠ പാണ്ഡവൻ യുധിഷ്ഠിരൻ, വർഷങ്ങളോളം അടക്കി വെച്ച അത്യന്തം ഭീകരമായ ക്രോധം ഒടുവിൽ ഉണർന്നു കൗരവന്മാരുടെ മേൽ വിട്ടാൽ, അപ്പോൾ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന യുദ്ധം അത്രയും ഭയാനകമായിരിക്കും; അതിന്റെ ഫലം കണ്ടു ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രപുത്രൻ ദുര്യോധനൻ കടുത്ത പശ്ചാത്താപത്തിൽ വീഴും.
