Sanatsujāta–Dhṛtarāṣṭra Saṃvāda: Pramāda as Mṛtyu

धामांशभागस्य तथा हि वेदा यथा च शाखा हि महीरुहस्य । संवेदने चैव यथा55मनन्ति तस्मिन्‌ हि सत्ये परमात्मनो<र्थे,द्वितीयाके चन्द्रमाकी सूक्ष्म कलाको बतानेके लिये जैसे वृक्षकी शाखाकी ओर संकेत किया जाता है, उसी प्रकार उस सत्यस्वरूप परमात्माका ज्ञान करानेके लिये ही वेदोंका भी उपयोग किया जाता है; ऐसा विद्वान पुरुष मानते हैं

dhāmāṁśa-bhāgasya tathā hi vedā yathā ca śākhā hi mahīruhasya | saṁvedane caiva yathā mananti tasmin hi satye paramātmano 'rthe ||

മഹാവൃക്ഷത്തിലെ സൂക്ഷ്മ ഭാഗം കാണിക്കാനായി അതിന്റെ ശാഖയിലേക്കു സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ, സത്യസ്വരൂപമായ പരമാത്മാവിനെ ബോധിപ്പിക്കാനാണ് വേദങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്—എന്ന് ജ്ഞാനികൾ പറയുന്നു. ശാസ്ത്രം സൂചന മാത്രമാണ്; ലക്ഷ്യം ആ പരമസത്യം തന്നെയാണ്.
