अध्याय ३९: विदुरेण धृतराष्ट्राय नीत्युपदेशः
Timely Counsel, Association, and Kin-Duty
नित्योदकी नित्ययज्ञोपवीती नित्यस्वाध्यायी पतितान्नवर्जी । सत्यं ब्रुवन् गुरवे कर्म कुर्वन् न ब्राह्मुणश्व्यवते ब्रह्मलोकात्,जो प्रतिदिन जलसे स्नान-संध्या-तर्पण आदि करता है, नित्य यज्ञोपवीत धारण किये रहता है, नित्य स्वाध्याय करता है, पतितोंका अन्न त्याग देता है, सत्य बोलता और गुरुकी सेवा करता है, वह ब्राह्मण कभी ब्रह्मलोकसे भ्रष्ट नहीं होता
nityodakī nityayajñopavītī nityasvādhyāyī patitānnavarjī | satyaṃ bruvan gurave karma kurvan na brāhmaṇaś cyavate brahmalokāt ||
ദിവസേന ജലകർമ്മങ്ങൾ—സ്നാനം, സന്ധ്യാവന്ദനം, തർപ്പണം—നിർവഹിക്കുന്നതും, നിത്യമായി യജ്ഞോപവീതം ധരിക്കുന്നതും, നിത്യസ്വാധ്യായത്തിൽ സ്ഥിരനുമായതും, പതിതരുടെ അന്നം വെടിയുന്നതും, സത്യം പറയുന്നതും, ഗുരുവിന് വേണ്ടിയുള്ള കർമങ്ങൾ സേവാഭാവത്തോടെ ചെയ്യുന്നതുമായ ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ—ബ്രഹ്മലോകത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഒരിക്കലും ച്യുതനാകുകയില്ല.
