Bhīṣma–Jāmadagnya-saṃvādaḥ
Bhishma’s account of the encounter with Rāma Jāmadagnya
ततो जाल॑ बाणमयं विवृत्तं संदृश्य भित्त्वा शरजालेन राजन् | द्वादशेषून् प्राहिणवं रणेडहं ततः शक्तीरप्यधमं घोररूपा:
tato jālaṃ bāṇamayaṃ vivṛttaṃ saṃdṛśya bhittvā śarajālena rājan | dvādaśeṣūn prāhiṇavaṃ raṇe'haṃ tataḥ śaktīr apy adhamam ghorarūpāḥ ||
അപ്പോൾ, ഹേ രാജാവേ, ചുറ്റി വിരിഞ്ഞ ബാണജാലം കണ്ടിട്ട് ഞാൻ ശരജാലംകൊണ്ട് അതിനെ ഭേദിച്ച് ചിതറിച്ചു. ആ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ഞാൻ പന്ത്രണ്ടു അമ്പുകൾ പ്രയോഗിച്ചു; തുടർന്ന് പോരിനെ അകറ്റാതെ മുന്നോട്ടു തള്ളാൻ ഭയാനക രൂപമുള്ള ഘോര ശക്തികളും എറിഞ്ഞു.
