अविलम्बमनायस्तमद्रुतं धीरमूर्जितम् । असंसक्ताक्षरपदं स्वरभावसमन्वितम्
avilambam anāyastam adrutaṃ dhīram ūrjitam | asaṃsaktākṣarapadaṃ svarabhāvasamanvitam ||
കഥാവാചനം അതിയായി ഇടവിട്ട് മന്ദഗതിയിലുമാകരുത്; അതുപോലെ അതിവേഗത്തിലുമാകരുത്. അത് സ്വാഭാവികമായി, ധീരമായി, ഊർജസ്വലമായി മുന്നേറണം; അക്ഷരങ്ങളും പദങ്ങളും ചേർന്നു കുഴയാതെ വ്യക്തമായി ഉച്ചരിക്കണം; സ്വരവും ഭാവവും യോജിച്ചിരിക്കണം— അപ്പോൾ അർത്ഥം മധുരമായി തെളിയും.
