Daṇḍanīti and the King as the Cause of Yuga-Order (दण्डनीतिः राजधर्मश्च युगकारणत्वम्)
महादण्डश्न तस्य स्याद् यस्यान्निर्वे दिवा भवेत् । प्रघोषयेदथैवं च रक्षणार्थ पुरस्य च,नगरकी रक्षाके लिये यह घोषणा करा दे कि “जिसके यहाँ दिनमें आग जलायी जाती होगी उसे बड़ा भारी दण्ड दिया जायगा”
mahādaṇḍaś ca tasya syād yasyānnirve divā bhavet | praghoṣayed athaivaṃ ca rakṣaṇārthaṃ purasya ca ||
ആരുടെ വീട്ടിൽ പകൽ തീ കത്തുന്നതായി കണ്ടെത്തിയാൽ അവനു അത്യന്തം കഠിനമായ ശിക്ഷ വിധിക്കണം. നഗരസംരക്ഷണാർത്ഥം ഈ കല്പന പൊതുവായി പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കണം.
