सत्कृतं स्वजनेनेह परो5पि बहु मन्यते । स्वजनेन त्ववज्ञातं परे परिभवन्त्युत
satkṛtaṃ svajaneneha paro 'pi bahu manyate | svajanena tv avajñātaṃ pare paribhavanty uta ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഈ ലോകത്ത് സ്വന്തം ജനങ്ങൾ ആദരിക്കുന്നവനെ അന്യരും വളരെ മാനിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ സ്വന്തം ബന്ധുക്കൾ അവഗണിക്കുന്നവനെ മറ്റുള്ളവരും നിന്ദിക്കുന്നു.
