गोमत्यास्त्वेष पुलिने त्वददर्शनसमुत्सुक: । आसीनो वर्तयन ब्रह्म ब्राह्मण: संशितव्रत:,वे कठोर व्रतका पालन करनेवाले ब्राह्मण वेदोंका पारायण करते हुए आपके दर्शनके लिये उत्सुक हो गोमतीके किनारे बैठे हुए हैं

gomatyāstv eṣa puline tvad-adarśana-samutsukaḥ | āsīno vartayan brahma brāhmaṇaḥ saṃśita-vrataḥ ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഗോമതി നദിയുടെ മണൽത്തീരത്ത് കഠിനവ്രതം അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ ഇരിക്കുന്നു. വേദപാരായണം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദർശനത്തിനായി അത്യന്തം ഉത്സുകനായി അവിടെ തുടരുന്നു.
