तथा तं॑ पुरुष विश्व परमं सुमहत्तमम्‌ । निर्गुणं निर्गुणा भूत्वा प्रविशन्ति सनातनम्‌,जो लोग साधन करते-करते गुणातीत हो जाते हैं, वे ही उस विश्वरूप, अत्यन्त महान्‌, सनातन एवं निर्गुण परम पुरुषमें प्रवेश करते हैं

tathā taṁ puruṣaṁ viśvaṁ paramaṁ sumahattamam | nirguṇaṁ nirguṇā bhūtvā praviśanti sanātanam ||

ഇങ്ങനെ সাধനയിൽ നിലകൊണ്ട് ഗുണാതീതരാകുന്നവർ, തങ്ങളുമെല്ലാം നിർഗുണരായി, വിശ്വരൂപനായ പരമൻ—അത്യന്തം മഹത്തായ, സനാതന, നിർഗുണ പരമപുരുഷനിൽ—പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നു।

Liberation is attained by becoming nirguṇa—transcending the three guṇas (sattva, rajas, tamas) that bind the mind to desire, fear, and ego. When one’s nature is purified beyond these forces through sustained practice, one ‘enters’ the eternal, attribute-less Supreme Person.

In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on peace and liberation, Bhīṣma is teaching Yudhiṣṭhira about the highest spiritual goal. He describes the culmination of disciplined practice: the seeker who becomes guṇa-transcendent attains union with the eternal Supreme Reality.
