त्रेतायुगादौ च ततो विवस्वान् मनवे ददौ । मनुश्न लोकभूत्यर्थ सुतायेक्ष्वाकवे ददौ,फिर त्रेतायुगके आरम्भमें सूर्यने मनुको और मनुने सम्पूर्ण जगत्के कल्याणके लिये अपने पुत्र इक्ष्वाकुको इसका उपदेश दिया
tretāyugādau ca tato vivasvān manave dadau | manuś ca lokabhūtyarthaṁ sutāyekṣvākave dadau ||
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—പിന്നെ ത്രേതായുഗത്തിന്റെ ആരംഭത്തിൽ വിവസ്വാൻ (സൂര്യൻ) ഈ ഉപദേശം മനുവിന് നൽകി; മനുവും സർവ്വലോകക്ഷേമാർത്ഥം തന്റെ പുത്രൻ ഇക്ഷ്വാകുവിന് അതു ഉപദേശിച്ചു।
