सुवर्णष्ठीविनोपाख्यानम्

The Account of Suvarṇaṣṭhīvin

स ददर्श शयानं तं गतासुं पीतशोणितम्‌ । कुमारं विगतानन्दं निशाकरमिव च्युतम्‌,उन्होंने देखा, राजकुमार प्राणशून्य होकर आकाशसे गिरे हुए चन्द्रमाकी भाँति पड़ा है। उसका सारा रक्त बाघके द्वारा पी लिया गया है और वह आनन्दहीन हो गया है

sa dadarśa śayānaṃ taṃ gatāsuṃ pītaśoṇitam | kumāraṃ vigatānandaṃ niśākaram iva cyutam ||

അവൻ അവിടെ കിടക്കുന്ന ആ കുമാരനെ കണ്ടു—പ്രാണം വിട്ടവനായി, രക്തം കുടിച്ചുതീർത്തവനായി. ആനന്ദം അകന്ന അവൻ, ആകാശത്തിൽ നിന്ന് വീണ ചന്ദ്രനെപ്പോലെ കിടന്നു.
