अध्याय २९७ — श्रेयः, धृति, दान-नियमाः
Welfare, Steadfastness, and Norms of Giving
न चैशि: पुण्यकर्माणो युज्यन्ते चाभिसंधिजै: । एवंविधैश्व बहुभिरपरै: प्राकृतेरपि,पुण्यकर्म करनेवाले मनुष्य इस तरहके उपायोंसे प्राण नहीं देते तथा ऐसे-ऐसे दूसरे अधम उपायोंसे भी उनकी मृत्यु नहीं होती
na caiśiḥ puṇyakarmāṇo yujyante cābhisaṃdhijaiḥ | evaṃvidhaiś ca bahubhir aparaiḥ prākṛter api ||
പരാശരൻ പറഞ്ഞു—പുണ്യകർമ്മങ്ങളിൽ നിഷ്ഠയുള്ളവർ കപടവും കൃത്രിമവുമായ തന്ത്രോപായങ്ങളാൽ പ്രാണം വിടുകയില്ല; അതുപോലെ സാധാരണ ലോകപ്രകൃതിയിൽ നിന്നുയരുന്ന ഇത്തരത്തിലുള്ള അനേകം നീചോപായങ്ങളാലും അവർ നശിക്കുകയില്ല।
