Educational Q&A

Fulfil household duties responsibly—raise children to maturity, establish them through marriage and self-reliance, and then loosen possessive attachment so one can live with inner freedom and peace.

In Shanti Parva, Bhishma instructs on dharma and proper conduct. Here he gives practical guidance for a householder: beget children at the right time, settle them when grown, and, once they are independent, withdraw from excessive parental clinging.
