पुत्र बवाच धीर: किंस्वित् तात कुर्यात् प्रजानन् क्षिप्रं ह्यायुर्श्श्यते मानवानाम् । पितस्तथा<5<5ख्याहि यथार्थयोगं ममानुपूर्व्या येन धर्म चरेयम्
putra uvāca dhīraḥ: kiṃ svit tāta kuryāt prajānann kṣipraṃ hy āyuḥ kṣīyate mānavānām | pitaḥ tathākhyāhi yathārtha-yogaṃ mamānupūrvyā yena dharmaṃ careyam ||
പുത്രൻ പറഞ്ഞു—പിതാവേ! മനുഷ്യരുടെ ആയുസ്സ് അതിവേഗം ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകുന്നു. ഇത് നന്നായി അറിഞ്ഞ ധീരനും വിവേകിയും ഏതു ധർമ്മാനുഷ്ഠാനമാണ് സ്വീകരിക്കേണ്ടത്? പിതാവേ, യഥാർത്ഥാർത്ഥത്തോടെ ക്രമമായി എനിക്ക് പറഞ്ഞു തരിക; ഞാനും ധർമ്മം അനുഷ്ഠിക്കേണ്ടതിന്.
