भीष्म उवाच अत्राप्युदाहरन्तीममितिहासं पुरातनम् । पितुः पुत्रेण संवाद तं निबोध युधिछ्टिर,भीष्मजीने कहा--युधिष्ठि! इस विषयमें विज्ञ पुरुष पिता-पुत्र-संवादरूप एक प्राचीन इतिहासका उदाहरण दिया करते हैं, उसे सुनो
bhīṣma uvāca | atrāpy udāharantīmam itihāsaṃ purātanam | pituḥ putreṇa saṃvādaṃ taṃ nibodha yudhiṣṭhira ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു— യുധിഷ്ഠിരാ! ഈ വിഷയത്തിലും പണ്ഡിതർ ഒരു പുരാതന ഇതിഹാസം ഉദാഹരണമായി പറയുന്നു— പിതാവും പുത്രനും തമ്മിലുള്ള സംവാദം. അത് കേൾക്കുക.
