The Nārada–Samaṅga Dialogue on Fearlessness and Equanimity

Educational Q&A

The verse teaches ātma-upamya—treating all beings as oneself. This empathetic equality purifies the mind, completes one’s ethical striving, and leads to the abandonment of faults and harmful tendencies.

In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on dharma after the war, Bhīṣma continues advising Yudhiṣṭhira on righteous conduct. Here he emphasizes a universal ethical stance: impartial regard for all beings as the basis for inner purity and freedom from दोष (faults).
