Educational Q&A

Kapila teaches that the householder stage is the foundation of dharma: sacrifice, disciplined effort, and the practical support for all other ways of life depend upon gārhasthya.

In the Śānti Parva’s instructional dialogue, Kapila is presenting a dharma-centered argument that elevates the gṛhastha’s role as the sustaining base of religious practice and ethical activity in society.
