स्यूमराश्मिरुवाच स्यूमरश्मिरहं ब्रह्म॒न्‌ जिज्ञासार्थमिहागत: । श्रेयस्काम: प्रत्यवोचमार्जवान्न विवक्षया,स्यूमरश्मिने कहा--ब्रह्मन्‌! मेरा नाम स्यूमरश्मि है। मैं ज्ञान-प्राप्तिकी इच्छासे यहाँ आया हूँ। मैंने कल्याणकी इच्छा रखकर सरल भावसे ही अपनी बातें आपकी सेवामें उपस्थित की हैं, वाद-विवादकी इच्छासे नहीं

Transliteration

Sūmarāśmir uvāca—Sūmarāśmir ahaṁ brahman jijñāsārtham ihāgataḥ | Śreyaskāmaḥ pratyavocam ārjavān na vivakṣayā ||

Translation

സൂമരാശ്മി പറഞ്ഞു—ബ്രഹ്മൻ! എന്റെ പേര് സൂമരാശ്മി. അറിയുവാനുള്ള ആഗ്രഹത്തോടെ ഞാൻ ഇവിടെ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. ശ്രേയസ്സിനെ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച് ഞാൻ ലളിതമായി പറഞ്ഞതാണ്; വാദവിവാദത്തിനല്ല.
