ब्राह्मणस्य पूर्वतरा वृत्तिः — The Earlier Ideal Conduct of a Brahmana

इदं तु लब्ध्वा संस्थानमात्मानं बहु मन्यसे । सर्वभूतभवं देवं ब्रह्माणमिव शाश्वतम्‌

idaṁ tu labdhvā saṁsthānam ātmānaṁ bahu manyase | sarvabhūtabhavaṁ devaṁ brahmāṇam iva śāśvatam ||

ഈ സ്ഥാനവും ഈ ദേഹവും ലഭിച്ചതിനാൽ നീ നിന്നെ അത്യന്തം മഹാനെന്ന് കരുതുന്നു—സകലഭൂതങ്ങളുടെയും ജനകനായ ശാശ്വത ദേവൻ ബ്രഹ്മാവെന്നപോലെ. എന്നാൽ ഈ ഇന്ദ്രപദവി ഒരിക്കലും അചലമോ അനന്തകാലം നിലനിൽക്കുന്നതോ ആയി തെളിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല—അനേകർ അത് വഹിച്ച് കടന്നുപോയി. മോഹബുദ്ധിയാൽ നീ അതിനെ നിന്റെതെന്ന് കരുതുന്നു.
