यदेवमनुजातस्य धातारो विदधु: पुरा । तदेवानुचरिष्यामि किं मे मृत्यु: करिष्यति
yad evam anujātasya dhātāro vidadhuḥ purā | tad evānucariṣyāmi kiṁ me mṛtyuḥ kariṣyati ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു— എന്റെ ജന്മാരംഭത്തിൽ വിധാതാക്കൾ എനിക്കായി ഏതു വിധി നിശ്ചയിച്ചുവോ, ജനിച്ചതുമുതൽ ഞാൻ അതേ പിന്തുടർന്നുവന്നു; ഇനിയും അതേ പിന്തുടരും. അപ്പോൾ മരണത്തിന് എനിക്ക് എന്ത് ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയും?
