Adhyāya 2: Nārada’s Disclosure—Karṇa’s Training and the Brahmin’s Curse (Śānti-parva)
क्षत्रं स्वर्ग कथं गच्छेच्छस्त्रपूतमिति प्रभो । संघर्षजननस्तस्मात् कन्यागर्भो विनिर्मित:
kṣatraṃ svargaṃ kathaṃ gacchec chastrapūtam iti prabho | saṃgharṣa-jananas tasmāt kanyā-garbho vinirmitaḥ ||
നാരദൻ പറഞ്ഞു—പ്രഭോ! ദേവന്മാർ ആലോചിച്ചു—‘ആയുധങ്ങളുടെ സ്പർശത്താൽ ശുദ്ധരായി ക്ഷത്രിയവർഗം എങ്ങനെ സ്വർഗ്ഗം പ്രാപിക്കും?’ അതിനാൽ ആ സംഘർഷം ജനിപ്പിക്കാനായി ഒരു കന്യകയുടെ ഗർഭത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഒരു ശിശുവിനെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു. സൂര്യന്റെ ശക്തിയാൽ കന്യക കുന്തിയുടെ ഗർഭത്തിൽ ഒരു തേജസ്വിയായ പുത്രൻ ജനിച്ചു; അവൻ പിന്നീടു കലഹത്തിന്റെ ജനകനായി।
