एवमुकक्त्वा विनिश्ित्य रौद्रकर्मा स लुब्धक: । महाप्रस्थानमाश्रित्य प्रययौ संशितव्रत:,ऐसा कहकर धर्माचरणका ही निश्चय करके वह भयानक कर्म करनेवाला व्याध कठोर व्रतका आश्रय ले महाप्रस्थानके पथपर चल दिया
evam uktvā viniścitya raudrakarmā sa lubdhakaḥ | mahāprasthānam āśritya prayayau saṃśitavrataḥ ||
ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു, ധർമ്മാചരണം തന്നെ എന്നുറച്ച് നിശ്ചയിച്ച്, ഭീകരകർമ്മങ്ങളിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധനായ ആ വേട്ടക്കാരനും കഠിനവ്രതം സ്വീകരിച്ച് മഹാപ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ പാതയിൽ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
