कृतबुद्धि्द्रूमे तस्मिन् वस्तुं तां रजनी ततः । साञ्जलि: प्रणतिं कृत्वा वाक्यमाह वनस्पतिम्
kṛtabuddhidrūme tasmin vastuṃ tāṃ rajanī tataḥ | sāñjaliḥ praṇatiṃ kṛtvā vākyam āha vanaspatim ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അപ്പോൾ ആ രാത്രി അവിടെ തന്നെ കഴിക്കണമെന്ന് നിശ്ചയിച്ച്, ‘കൃതബുദ്ധി’ എന്നു വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട ആ വൃക്ഷത്തിങ്കൽ അവൾ സമീപിച്ചു. കൈകൂപ്പി നമസ്കരിച്ചു, വിനയപൂർവ്വമായ വാക്കുകളാൽ വനത്തിന്റെ അധിപനായ ആ വനംസ്പതിയെ അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്തു।
