त्रिवर्गमूलनिश्चयः — Determining the Roots of Dharma, Artha, and Kāma
Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 123
पेयापेये कुत: सिद्धिर्हिंसन्ति च परस्परम् | गम्यागम्यं तदा नासीत् स्वं परस्वं च वै समम्
peyāpeye kutaḥ siddhir hiṃsanti ca parasparam | gamyāgamyaṃ tadā nāsīt svaṃ parasvaṃ ca vai samam ||
അപ്പോൾ പാനീയ–അപാനീയ എന്ന സ്ഥിരനിയമം എങ്ങിനെ നിലനിൽക്കും? ജനങ്ങൾ പരസ്പരം ഹിംസിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി. ആ സമയത്ത് ഗമ്യ–അഗമ്യ എന്ന വിവേചനവും ഇല്ലാതായി; സ്വന്തം ധനവും മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ ധനവും ഒരുപോലെ എന്നു കരുതപ്പെട്ടു.
