स्वर्मेण जिता लोका: को नु स्वन्ततरो मया । दिष्ट्या नाहं जित: संख्ये परान्‌ प्रेष्यवदाश्रित:

svarmeṇa jitā lokāḥ ko nu svantataro mayā | diṣṭyā nāhaṃ jitaḥ saṅkhye parān preṣyavad āśritaḥ ||

സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“എന്റെ സ്വന്തം ആചരണത്താൽ ഞാൻ സ്വർഗ്ഗലോകങ്ങളെ ജയിച്ചു—എന്നേക്കാൾ ആത്മസംയമമുള്ളവൻ ആരുണ്ട്? ഭാഗ്യവശാൽ ഞാൻ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ തോറ്റിട്ടില്ല; ദാസനെപ്പോലെ മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ ആശ്രയത്തിലും കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല.”
