Educational Q&A

The line highlights an idealized royal condition: true eminence is shown through visible prowess (pratāpa) and the presence of Śrī (legitimate prosperity), situated within one’s social and familial sphere—implying that power and fortune are meaningful when exercised among and for one’s own people, under the constraints of dharma.

Sañjaya is describing a prominent figure in the war narrative as radiant with might and blessed by fortune, seen moving among his relatives/kinsmen—an observational portrait that sets the tone for the surrounding action and the figure’s standing within his own side.
