मोघं दुर्योधनश्षक्रे तत्रा भूद् विस््मयो महान् । परंतु महाबली दुर्योधनको इससे तनिक भी घबराहट नहीं हुई। उसने फुर्तीसे इधर-उधर होकर उस प्रहारको व्यर्थ कर दिया। यह देख वहाँ सब लोगोंको महान् आश्चर्य हुआ ।। ४७ न् |! सा तु मोघा गदा राजन् पतन्ती भीमचोदिता,चालयामास पृथिवीं महानिर्घातनि:स्वना । राजन! भीमसेनकी चलायी हुई वह गदा जब व्यर्थ होकर गिरने लगी, उस समय उसने वज्रपातके समान महान् शब्द प्रकट करके पृथ्वीको हिला दिया
sa tu moghā gadā rājan patantī bhīmacoditā | cālayāmāsa pṛthivīṃ mahānirghātaniḥsvanā ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ രാജാവേ! ദുര്യോധനൻ ആ പ്രഹാരം വ്യർത്ഥമാക്കി; അത് കണ്ടു അവിടെ മഹാവിസ്മയം പിറന്നു. ഭീമസേനൻ എറിഞ്ഞ ആ ഗദ ഫലമില്ലാതെ വീഴുമ്പോൾ ഇടിമിന്നലിന്റെ പ്രഹാരത്തെപ്പോലെ ഭീകരനാദത്തോടെ ഭൂമിയെ കുലുക്കി.
