Gadāyuddhe Kṛṣṇopadeśaḥ (Kṛṣṇa’s Counsel in the Mace-Duel) — Śalya-parva 57
दुर्योधनाय व्यसृजद् भीमो भीमपराक्रम: । तदनन्तर भयंकर पराक्रमी भीमसेनने दुर्योधनपर अपनी सुवर्णजटित तेजस्विनी एवं बड़ी भारी गदा छोड़ी ।। त॑ं प्रहारमसम्भ्रान्तो लाघवेन महाबल:
sañjaya uvāca | duryodhanāya vyasṛjad bhīmo bhīmaparākramaḥ | tadanantaraṁ bhayaṅkara-parākramaḥ bhīmasenaḥ duryodhanaparaṁ suvarṇa-jaṭitaṁ tejasvinīṁ ca bṛhatīṁ gadāṁ chukṣepa | taṁ prahāram asambhrānto lāghavena mahābalaḥ |
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഭീകരപരാക്രമനായ ഭീമൻ ദുര്യോധനനിലേക്കു ഗദ എറിഞ്ഞു; എന്നാൽ മഹാബലനായ ദുര്യോധനൻ അലറാതെ, ചാപല്യത്തോടെ ആ പ്രഹാരം ഒഴിവാക്കി.
संजय उवाच
Even in the extremity of battle, the text highlights steadiness (asambhrānti) and disciplined presence of mind. Valor is not only force but also composure and skill—qualities expected of a kshatriya in righteous warfare.
Sanjaya describes Bhima hurling a huge, gold-adorned, radiant mace at Duryodhana. The opponent—described as mighty—faces the incoming strike without panic, using agility to respond, as the climactic mace-duel intensifies.
