शल्यस्य सेनापत्याभ्युपगमः | Śalya’s Acceptance of Command

सुहृदा यदिदं वाक्‍्यं भवता श्रावितो हाहम्‌ । न मां प्रीणाति तत्‌ सर्व मुमूर्षोरिव भेषजम्‌,“आप मेरे हितचिन्तक सुहृद्‌ हैं तो भी आपने मुझे जो बात सुनायी है, वह सब मेरे मनको उसी तरह पसंद नहीं आती, जैसे मरणासन्न रोगीको दवा अच्छी नहीं लगती है इति श्रीमहाभारते शल्यपर्वणि दुर्योधनवाक्ये पठचमो<ध्याय:

sañjaya uvāca | suhṛdā yad idaṁ vākyaṁ bhavatā śrāvito hāham | na māṁ prīṇāti tat sarvaṁ mumūrṣor iva bheṣajam ||

നിങ്ങൾ ഹിതൈഷിയായ സുഹൃത്ത് ആണെങ്കിലും, നിങ്ങൾ എനിക്ക് കേൾപ്പിച്ച വാക്കുകളൊന്നും എനിക്ക് പ്രസാദകരമല്ല—മരണാസന്നനായ രോഗിക്ക് ഔഷധം ഇഷ്ടമാകാത്തതുപോലെ.
