Asita Devala Observes Jaigīṣavya’s Yogic Attainment and Chooses Mokṣa-dharma (देवल-जैगीषव्योपाख्यानम्)
यत्रेष्टवा भगवान् ज्योतिर्भास्करो राजसत्तम | ज्योतिषामाधिपत्यं च प्रभावं चाभ्यपद्यत,नृपश्रेष्ठी वहीं यज्ञ करके ज्योतिर्मय भगवान् भास्करने ज्योतियोंका आधिपत्य एवं प्रभुत्व प्राप्त किया था
yatreṣṭvā bhagavān jyotir-bhāskaro rājasattama | jyotiṣām ādhipatyaṃ ca prabhāvaṃ cābhyapadyata ||
രാജശ്രേഷ്ഠാ! അതേ സ്ഥലത്ത് യാഗം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ച് ജ്യോതിർമയനായ ഭഗവാൻ ഭാസ്കരൻ ജ്യോതിസ്സുകളുടെ അധിപത്യവും പരമപ്രഭാവവും പ്രാപിച്ചു.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse links legitimate supremacy and radiance with sacrificial discipline (yajña) and earned merit, suggesting that true power is rooted in dharmic action and cosmic order rather than arbitrary domination.
Vaiśaṃpāyana points out a sacred location where the Sun-god Bhāskara once performed a sacrifice and thereby obtained dominion over the lights (luminaries) and the fullness of his radiant power.
