महात्मा त्वग्निपुत्राय महाबलपराक्रमौ । महामना मेरुने ही अग्निपुत्र कार्तिकेयको स्थिर और अतिस्थिर नामक दो पार्षद और दिये। वे दोनों महान् बल और पराक्रमसे सम्पन्न थे
mahātmā tv agniputrāya mahābala-parākramau | mahāmanā meruṇe hi agniputraḥ kārtikeyaḥ sthiraṃ cāti-sthiraṃ nāmakaṃ dvau pārṣadau dadau | tau ubhau mahān bala-parākrama-sampannau āsatām |
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—മഹാത്മാവായ മേരു അഗ്നിപുത്രനായ കാർത്തികേയനു ‘സ്ഥിരൻ’ ‘അതിസ്ഥിരൻ’ എന്നിങ്ങനെ രണ്ടു പാർഷദന്മാരെയും നൽകി. അവർ ഇരുവരും മഹാബലവും പരാക്രമവും നിറഞ്ഞവരായിരുന്നു.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Competent service supports righteous order: even exalted leaders rely on steadfast, powerful attendants, highlighting the ethical value of steadiness (sthira) and reliable support in fulfilling duty.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Kārtikeya, called Agni’s son, is given two attendants named Sthira and Ati-sthira, both renowned for great strength and valor, indicating his retinue and the empowerment of his mission.
