तेजो माहेश्वरं स्कन्नमग्नौ प्रपतितं पुरा । तत् सर्वभक्षो भगवान् नाशकद् दग्धुमक्षयम्,पूर्वकालकी बात है, भगवान् शिवका तेजोमय वीर्य अग्निमें गिर पड़ा। भगवान् अग्नि सर्वभक्षी हैं तो भी उस अक्षय वीर्यको वे भस्म न कर सके
tejo māheśvaraṁ skannam agnau prapatitaṁ purā | tat sarvabhakṣo bhagavān nāśakad dagdhum akṣayam ||
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—പുരാതനകാലത്ത് മഹേശ്വരന്റെ തേജോമയ ശക്തി അഗ്നിയിൽ പതിച്ചു. സർവ്വഭക്ഷകനായ ഭഗവാൻ അഗ്നിക്കും ആ അക്ഷയ തേജസ്സിനെ ദഹിപ്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.
