Adhyāya 33: Rauhiṇeya (Balarāma) is welcomed and takes his seat to witness the gadā-engagement
tad idaṃ dyūtam ārabdhaṃ punar eva yathā purā
The verse highlights how unethical choices, once normalized, tend to recur: when greed and adharma are left unchecked, the same calamity repeats. It serves as a moral reminder that ignoring past lessons invites the return of the very causes of ruin.
Sañjaya draws a pointed comparison to the earlier dice episode, stating that the same kind of “dice-game” dynamic has begun again—an ominous signal that the forces that once destroyed peace and righteousness are reasserting themselves.
