पज्चालान् सृञ्जयांश्वैव विनिकृत्तानू सहस्रश: । अश्वत्थामाका प्रिय करनेवाले उन दोनों वीरोंने भी उस समय उससे यह प्रिय समाचार निवेदन किया कि हम दोनोंने भी सहस्रों पांचालों और सूंजयोंके टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर डाले हैं
sañjaya uvāca | pāñcālān sṛñjayāṃś caiva vinikṛttānū sahasraśaḥ |
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—സഹസ്രങ്ങളായ പാഞ്ചാലരും സൃഞ്ജയരും വെട്ടിക്കീറി ഖണ്ഡങ്ങളാക്കിയിരുന്നു। അപ്പോൾ അവനെ പ്രീതിപ്പെടുത്താൻ ആ രണ്ടുവീരരും ഈ ‘പ്രിയ വാർത്ത’ അറിയിച്ചു—ഞങ്ങളും സഹസ്രങ്ങളായ പാഞ്ചാലരെയും സൃഞ്ജയരെയും വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നിട്ടുണ്ട് എന്ന്।
