Daiva–Puruṣakāra Saṃvāda
Kṛpa’s Counsel on Destiny and Human Effort
तपत्यर्थे विपन्ने हि मित्राणां न कृतं वच: । पहले भी वह बड़े दुष्ट स्वभावका था। धैर्य रखना तो वह जानता ही नहीं था। उसने मित्रोंकी बात नहीं मानी; इसलिये अब काम बिगड़ जानेपर पश्चात्ताप करता है ।।
tapaty arthe vipanne hi mitrāṇāṁ na kṛtaṁ vacaḥ | pūrve ’pi sa mahā-duṣṭa-svabhāvaḥ āsīt | dhairyaṁ rakṣituṁ sa naiva jānāti sma | sa mitrāṇāṁ vacanaṁ nākarot; tasmād idānīṁ kārye vighaṭite paścāt tāpyate || anuvartāmahe yat tu taṁ vayaṁ pāpa-puruṣam |
കൃപൻ പറഞ്ഞു— “കാര്യങ്ങൾ തകർന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ പശ്ചാത്താപത്തിൽ കത്തുന്നു; കാരണം സുഹൃത്തുകളുടെ വാക്ക് അവൻ നടപ്പാക്കിയില്ല. മുമ്പേ തന്നെ അവൻ പൂർണ്ണമായും ദുഷ്ടസ്വഭാവക്കാരൻ; ക്ഷമ പിടിച്ചു നിൽക്കാൻ അവനറിയില്ല. മിത്രങ്ങളുടെ ഉപദേശം അവഗണിച്ച് പദ്ധതി പാളിയപ്പോൾ ഇപ്പോൾ അവൻ അനുതാപത്തിൽ തപിക്കുന്നു. എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങൾ ആ പാപപുരുഷനെ പിന്തുടർന്നുകൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു.”
