Sauptika Parva, Adhyāya 15
ब्रह्मचारी व्रती चापि दुरवापमवाप्य तत् । परमव्यसनार्तोडपि नार्जुनो<स्त्रं व्यमुजचत
brahmacārī vratī cāpi duravāpam avāpya tat | paramavyasanārto 'pi nārjuno 'straṃ vyamuñcat ||
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ബ്രഹ്മചാരിയും വ്രതധാരിയും ആയി ജീവിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാണ് അർജുനൻ ആ ദുർലഭ ആയുധം നേടിയതു; അതുകൊണ്ട് അത്യന്തം മഹാവിപത്തിൽ പീഡിതനായാലും അവൻ അതിനെ ഒരിക്കലും പ്രയോഗിച്ചില്ല.
