Nārada’s Examination of Royal Ethics
यात्रामारभसे दिष्ट्या प्राप्तकालमरिंदम । पार्ष्णिमूलं च विज्ञाय व्यवसायं पराजयम् | बलस्य च महाराज दत्त्वा वेतनमग्रत:,शत्रुदमन! क्या तुम पार्ष्णिग्राह आदि बारह- व्यक्तियोंके मण्डल (समुदाय)- को जानकर अपने कर्तव्यका5 निश्चय करके और पराजयमूलक व्यसनोंकाः अपने पक्षमें अभाव तथा शत्रुपक्षमें आधिक्य देखकर उचित अवसर आनेपर दैवका भरोसा करके अपने सैनिकोंको अग्रिम वेतन देकर शत्रुपर चढ़ाई कर देते हो?
Nārada uvāca |
Yātrām ārabhase diṣṭyā prāptakālam ariṃdama |
Pārṣṇimūlaṃ ca vijñāya vyavasāyaṃ parājayam |
Balasya ca mahārāja dattvā vetanam agrataḥ ||
നാരദൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ ശത്രുദമനാ, യുക്തമായ സമയത്ത് നീ യുദ്ധയാത്ര ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത് മംഗളം. പിന്നിൽ നിന്നുയരുന്ന അപകടത്തിന്റെ മൂലം അറിഞ്ഞ്, പരാജയകാരകമായ ദുർവ്യസനങ്ങൾ വിട്ട്, വിജയത്തിലേക്കുള്ള ദൃഢനിശ്ചയം ഉറപ്പാക്കി; മഹാരാജാ, സൈന്യത്തിന് മുൻകൂർ വേതനം നൽകി നീ ശത്രുവിനെതിരെ പുറപ്പെടുന്നു.
