Rājasūyābhiṣeka-darśana: Duryodhana’s Observation of the Consecration
niyataṃ taṃ vijeṣyāmi kṛtvā tu kapaṭaṃ vibho | ānayāmi samṛddhiṃ tāṃ divyāṃ copāhdayasva tam, prabho ||
The verse foregrounds adharma through deliberate deceit: Duryodhana openly intends to win not by rightful means but by trickery, showing how greed and envy corrode ethical judgment and set the stage for wider catastrophe.
Duryodhana declares his resolve to defeat Yudhiṣṭhira through a deceptive scheme (the rigged gambling match) and to seize the Pandavas’ extraordinary prosperity; he instructs an associate addressed as “vibhu/prabho” to summon Yudhiṣṭhira to the assembly.
